5 Things for the Week Ahead: Budgets, Lectures and Workshops

Five things you need to know for the week of Feb. 27, 2012.

 

1.) Dennis Lauro, the superintendent of Pelham schools, will present his $65.5 million budget proposal for the 2012-2013 school year . The public portion of the meeting begins at 8 p.m. inside the Pelham Middle School, which is located at 28 Franklin Place in Pelham. Call the district at 845-738-3434 for more information.

2.) The historic St. Paul’s Church in Mount Vernon . The church, which is a National Historic Site, is located at 897 South Columbus Ave. in Mount Vernon. The event os free an open to the public.

3.) New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson at the Davenport Club, located at 400 Davenport Ave., New Rochelle, Thursday, March 1 at 6 p.m. Tickets cost $35 in advance $40 at the door. Call (914) 632-5700 for more information.

4.) Ty Sells, director of Youth to Youth International, will give a presentation entitled “Creating Connections that Count” . The talk will center on the role parents can play in supporting youth to lead an alcohol and drug-free life and ways to connect with their teens.  The high school is located at 575 Colonial Avenue, Pelham.

5.) In honor of Women’s History Month, The College of New Rochelle will present the 2012 Elvira M. Dowell ‘36 Lecture . The lecture will be given by Rebecca Traister, senior editor for Salon.com and author of “Big Girls Don't Cry: The Election that Changed Everything for American Women.” is located at 29 Castle Pl., New Rochelle.
