5 Things for the Week Ahead: Music, Pets and Documentaries
5 things you need to know for the week of Nov. 7, 2011.
1. Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum in the Bronx hosts an event Tuesday at 7:30 p.m., spotlighting author Carol Wallace and her novel Leaving Van Gogh. There will be a book signing and discussion on this novel about Van Gogh’s art. Registration is suggested and tickets are $10 for adults; seniors and students pay $7; members are free.
2. The Top Docs documentary series presented by The Pelham Picture House is presenting The Disappearance of McKinley Nolan on Thursday at 7 p.m. The event will start with a complimentary wine reception, followed by a screening. Director Henry Corra will answer questions about this documentary dealing with a veteran’s family issues and ties to the Vietnam War. General admission $13.
3. Mommy Mondays at the The Voracious Reader in Larchmont is holding an event on Monday at 11 a.m. for new moms and their babies (18 months and under). Mom and baby will get to enjoy stories, songs and book talk for free.
4. Pets Alive Westchester is hosting a Free Cat Adoption Event all week and all day in Elmsford. The adoptable cats are all spayed/neutered and have been given up to date shots, as well as micro-chipped.
5. Indie jazz musician Glenda Davenport will perform for free at Watercolor Café in Larchmont Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
