Avoid That Traffic Snarl, Start Your Own Business

Here's what's coming up and worth noting in and around Pelham on Tuesday, Aug. 6.

A deck replacement project for the Hutchinson River Parkway is destined to snarl traffic when it begins Tuesday, August 6. Boston Post Road in Pelham Manor will be closed at the Hutch forcing detours onto I-95. It's scheduled to be completed by Saturday, August 10. For details, see our story.

From the Our Lady of Perpetual Help (OLPH) Church bulletin (Aug. 4): "We are in the process of registration for new students in grades K-8. Please call the CCD office at 738-0670 for more information.Re-registration mailing has been sent to all families enrolled in the program. "Starting Your Own Small Business/Expanding Your Existing Business," a presentation by business advisor Hope Heyman and other Small Business Development Center experts, will take place Wednesday, Aug. 7, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Greenburgh Public Library, 300 Tarrytown Road, Elmsford.

The New Westchester Symphony Orchestra is inviting local musicians to a complimentary rehearsal at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6,  inside the Music Conservatory of Westchester, located at 216 Central Ave. in  White Plains. "Coney Night Maze," a massive art exhibit inspired by the landmark Cyclone roller coaster on Coney Island, with its hairpin turns and stomach lifting plummets, is a sculptural installation running through Sept. 15 at the Neuberger Museum of Art at SUNY Purchase.
