A.G. Williams Painting Company Partners with Her Haven for Second Year

A.G. Williams Painting Company Donates $6,000 worth of painting services for conversion of Tina Klem Serenity House

As part of their continuing tradition of serving and giving back to the community, A.G. Williams is delighted to partner for a second year with Her Haven to help transform the lives of deserving women. This year, Her Haven converted the Huntington House, a Victorian building in Bridgeport, into the Tina Klem Serenity House, named after Tina Klem, a former Chief Clinical Officer of the Recovery Network of Programs. The Tina Klem Serenity House was dedicated at a June 28 ceremony and open house that was attended 150 supporters and friends.

Her Haven actively partners with area talent and community resources to provide a professional-quality space that enhance lives. By overseeing the renovation of rooms and buildings such as the Huntington House to meet resident needs and goals, Her Haven seeks to inspire women “to live fuller, richer, more productive lives.” The Tina Klem Serenity House is a small group recovery house targeted toward women who are living with co-occurring disorders and specializing in the provision of trauma and gender informed care.

“Tina Klem was an extraordinary human being who made significant contributions to the agency and all the lives she touched,” said John Hamilton, CEO of Recovery Network of Programs. Carey Dougherty, Her Haven Founder and Executive Director added, “We are able to fulfill our mission only with the support of companies like AG Williams Painting Company. Some very special people -- Doug Kitchen of A.G. Williams, Karen Bradbury of Closet and Storage Concepts, Peggy and John Kebabian of Kebabian Oriental Rugs -- helped us bring a little piece of peace to the women we serve.”

Among those also thanked by Dougherty were students from the Shintaro Akatsu School of Design at the University of Bridgeport, who designed the living area and six bedrooms, and selected paint and flooring for the kitchen and hallway.  Involved in the project were Norah Alajmi, Katherine Clarke, Sam Finch, Claire Hong, Fenn Humphrey, Savari Smith, Talissa Traversa, and Xiao Zhao, with their instructor, Giancarlo Massaro, who worked with the students all semester long to come up with soothing and comforting designs.

Dougherty added that “we are so grateful to Doug and A.G. Williams for their generosity and professionalism, and for their amazing contribution for the second year in a row.  I was thrilled that you were able to see firsthand what we were able to do with the space, and it all started with a coat of paint.  We really could not do this without you!”

A.G. Williams donated painting services for the Tina Klem Serenity House, at a value of $6,000, with Benjamin Moore donating the paint through Ring’s End. Additional sponsors include Closet and Storage Concepts who installed closet systems in all six bedrooms, Kebabian's Oriental Rugs who donated a beautiful, 10'x12' rug for the living room, and Rockwell Art & Framing, a returning sponsor for the second year, who framed two pieces of art and donated two more pieces.  Special thanks also go to artist Andrea Bonfils; Romanoff Elements art and design consultant; artists Mari Gyorgyey, Elisa Keogh, Kendall Klingbeil, Xanda McCagg, Denise Minnerly and Carla Wales; Anne Lee Window Designs; 2nd Chance Restoration; Bella Interiors; Soroptimist International of Greater Bridgeport; and Avon.
