Managing Food Allergies in School on March 17

Top food allergy experts from around the country will gather for this very special discussion. Don't miss this rare opportunity to hear from them about keeping our kids safe in school while creating a supportive community. This event is FREE.

  1. School nurse session: 4:00 – 5:30 pm
    Speakers: Dr. Michael Pistiner and Maria Acebal
     
  2. General Session: 7:30 - 9:00 pm * 
    Relevant for anyone who has contact with children with food allergies including, but not limited to teachers, parents, teens, administrators, aides, doctors, food service employees, friends of food allergy families. 
    *Doors open at 7:00 pm. Come early to mingle and meet others and chat with the speakers.

Hugh Sampson, MD is a Professor of Pediatrics and Immunobiology at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He is Chief of the Division of Allergy & Immunology in the Department of Pediatrics, Director of the Jaffe Food Allergy Institute, and Dean of Translational Biomedical Science at The Mount Sinai Medical Center. 

Michael Pistiner, MD, MMSc is a pediatric allergist, the father of a child with food allergies and a voluntary consultant for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, School Health Services. He is chair of the Medical Advisory Team for Kids with Food Allergies Foundation and serves on the boards of Asthma & Allergy Foundation of America (National), Asthma & Allergy Foundation of America, New England Chapter, and the National (FAME) Food Allergy Management and Education Advisory Board. Dr. Pistiner is the author of Everyday Cool with Food Allergies, a co-author of Living Confidently with Food Allergy, and is co-founder and content creator of AllergyHome.org.

Maria Acebal is the former CEO of FAAN (Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network), and now Member of the Board of Directors of FARE (Food Allergy Research & Education). She was the founder of Safe@School Partners, a nonprofit dedicated to educating schools, camps and daycares on food allergy safety. She received her JD from Yale Law School.
