GraceMusic Presents The Sebastians In Concert This Sunday

This Sunday, November 17th, at 4:00 pm GraceMusic will present The Sebastians chamber ensemble performing Vivaldi’s exciting L’Estro Armonico concerti at Grace Episcopal Church, 130 First Avenue Nyack, NY. This performance is part of the Sebastians' concert series to celebrate the tricentennial of the concerti's publication.  The program also includes the New York premier of a newly commissioned companion suite by Robert Honstein.

Vivaldi’s L’Estro Armonico concerti have been called "perhaps the most influential collection of instrumental music to appear during the whole of the eighteenth century" by Michael Talbot. Bach adapted several of them for organ. The Honstein suite, entitled Night Scenes from the Ospedale, was commissioned to accompany the Vivaldi on the group’s recently recorded debut CD.

The Sebastians, a dynamic ensemble specializing in Baroque and Classical music, have been lauded as “everywhere sharp-edged and engaging” (The New York Times).  The Sebastians have also been praised for their “well-thought-out articulation and phrasing” (Early Music Review) and “elegant string playing... immaculate in tuning and balance” (Early Music Today).  Among The Sebastians’ many awards and accolades is Early Music America’s 2012 Baroque Performance Competition Audience Award.
