5 Things: Get a Jump on the Week Ahead

Find out what's happening in and around Pelham this week.

Welcome to Monday's 5 Things. What's going on around Pelham this week?

1. Everyone always says, “Listen to your kids.” Here’s your chance to do it. The Pelham PACT Coalition is hosting a Youth Speak-Out and Community Conversation on Tuesday, March 29, at 7 p.m. at Pelham High School. The conversation will be facilitated by Shaun Derik, a youth advocate and presenter at livechat 2011. Click here for details

2. There’s also a chance to watch your kids in action…if they play girls lacrosse or are on the high school track team, at least. The Pelham High School has a meet at Eastchester High School on Monday at 4:30 p.m. The has a home game against Edgemont High School on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

3. On Thursday, raise a glass to Pelham youth hockey players at the annual Pelham Hockey Association Awards Dinner at 6:30 p.m. at Lake Isle Country Club in Eastchester.

 4. The Bronxville Women’s Club hosts a on Tuesday, March 29, from 2-3:30 p.m. at 135 Midland Ave. in Bronxville. Pianist Elizavita Kopelman will perform pieces by Franz Schubert, Lowell Liebermann and Modest Mussorgsky. The concert is free and open to the public; all donations will go to the Japanese Red Cross.

 5. If Monday’s already got you down, head over to the at the Bayou Restaurant in Mount Vernon. Johnny Feds and the Bluez Boys host an open mic blues jam every night—just show up with your instrument, sign up and sit in with the band. From 9 p.m. to midnight, 580 Gramatan Ave. Mount Vernon.
