5 things to know for Thursday, August 4.

Enjoy a nice dinner at this , a Larchmont fixture since 1997. Alan Eicher and his band will entertain you will some jazz music at 7:30p.m. for no additional charge. Try the highly recommended tomato bisque, crab cakes, or roasted duck.

New Rochelle Library's Family Film on the Green this week is the beloved 1939 film, The Wizard of Oz. This isn't your typical movie screening, however. Try something a little different. Go without sound at the Bronxville Silent Movie Night, hosted by The Bronxville Women's Club. Replacing the typical movie dialogue will be the music of Steve Segarra, performed live. This week is the last screening, at 7p.m. The movie will be The General, starring Buster Keaton. Donations are suggested- $15 each/$60 series, Children under 12- $5.

4. Rockland County Team in World Series!

Today is the for the , ages 11-12. A result of winning the NYS and Eastern Regional championships, the team is headed for the Little League World Series in Portland, OR.  

5. Obama's Birthday

President Obama turns 50 today. You weren't invited to the party? Don't feel too bad- tickets range from $50 to $35,800 a couple. The gala will take place at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago and will feature Herbie Hancock, pianist and composer, and Jennifer Hudson, singer and actress. Proceeds will benefit Obama's reelection campaign and the Democratic National Committee (DNC). There will be satellite parties around the country that will be tuned in to Obama's remarks.
