Go to bat for Cystic Fibrosis, enjoy live jazz on the Sound, or find a treasure at a rummage sale.

It’s a scorcher now, but the forecast predicts a dramatic cool-down for this weekend. Perfect for spending a breezy afternoon outdoors - let’s just hope the rain holds off! Enjoy mountain biking, learn about composting, jam to live music, or pick up a bargain or two at a church rummage sale.


Where/When: Saturday, June 11 at 2 p.m. at the Greenburgh Nature Center.
Why Go: If you’ve been thinking about composting, this is your signal to get moving! Environmental Projects Coordinator Anne Jaffe Holmes will walk you through the process with the simple how-to’s of composting.
Pricing: $6. Members free.


Where/When: Saturday, June 11 from 4 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. at in New Rochelle.
Why Go: The family can spread a blanket, pack a picnic, and listen to cool jazz as you gaze at the warm light on the Long Island Sound.
Pricing: $20; Children $7; Students with ID $10; Seniors 65+ $10.


Where/When: Saturday, June 11 from 12 p.m. until 4 p.m. at St. Paul’s Church National Historic Site in Mount Vernon.
Why Go: Kids will not even know they’re learning about American History as they delight in music, dancing, crafts, games, and arms (yes, boys, I said “arms!”). Special tours of the Church Bell Tower and of the colonial section of the historic cemetery will bring history home.
Pricing: Free.


Where/When: Sunday, June 12 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the in Peekskill.
Why Go: If you all have bikes and a means to hitch them on the car, you won’t want to miss this opportunity for riders of all ages and levels to experience this County treasure, called “some of the greatest trails in New York State.” Plus, enjoy skills competitions, games, and more.
Pricing: Parking $4 with County Park Pass, $8 without.


Where/When: Sunday, June 12 at 10 a.m. at .
Why Go: Friends of Aaron Rossman invite you to watch or compete in this fun, Pelham-invented combination of baseball, kickball and cricket while supporting research to “strike out cystic fibrosis.” These local young adults are expecting a hundred to come out in memory of their friend Aaron Rossman, who passed in November.  Vendor booths and food will be available.
