Check out awesome R/C vehicles, watch acrobats perform mind-boggling feats, and learn photo tips from Garden Photography experts.

If you’re scouting out this weekend’s kid-friendly activities, you’ve come to the right place.  Here’s a selection of kid-friendly activities to help you plan fun, budget-friendly outings. Things going on in and around Pelham:


Where/When: Friday, Feb. 25, Saturday, Feb. 26, and Sunday, Feb. 27 from 10 am - 4 pm at the Westchester County Center.
Why Go:  Kids love to see R/C vehicles -- especially super cool ones!  More than 150 manufacturers will display the latest and greatest in radio-controlled cars, boats and planes.   
Pricing:  Adults $12, Children $3, under 6 Free.  Sunday 12 and under Free!


Where/When:  Sunday, Feb. 27 11 am at the Weinberg Nature Center.
Why Go:  Meet animals from Chile, Asia, New Guinea, and Africa as Nature Center staff introduces your kids to their critters.  
Pricing:  Adults $3, Children $1.  

• A Trip to the Caribbean Garden:  Tropical Treats
Where/When:  Saturday, Feb. 26 or Sunday, Feb. 27 from 10 am - 5 pm at the New York Botanical Garden.
Why Go:  Because until Feb. 27, All-Garden Passes are half off!  Kids can tour the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory, Caribbean Garden, the Everett Children’s Adventure Garden, and the Tram Tour.  Kids will learn about tropical treats of chocolate, vanilla and spice, and taste bits of deliciousness.  Hands-on activities introduce kids to science exploration, seeds, cloves, and the bark of the cinnamon tree.

• Photography Tips and Techniques
Where/When:  Saturday, Feb. 26 from 1pm - 3 pm at the New York Botanical Garden.
Why Go:  While the younger kids are touring the Children’s Adventure Garden, older kids with an interest in photography will have the exquisite tropical flowers in the Caribbean Garden exhibition to photograph as they learn tips and techniques to take professional-looking pictures.  A garden photography expert will teach techniques to take photos of flowers and foliage in any kind of light.  Enter their artistic creations in the Caribbean Garden Photography Contest!
Pricing:   Free with All-Garden Pass:  adults $10, children $4.  Buy tickets here.


Where/When:  Sunday, Feb. 27 at 3 pm at the PepsiCo Theater at Purchase College.
Why Go:  Breathtaking acrobats balance on air, bend, twist and leap across the theater. Everyone will marvel as they witness magical maneuvers and watch as acrobats beat the clock with impossible stunts.  “Set to upbeat music and featuring up to five multi-skilled performers, this is circus without the boring bits.”
