Grab & Go Kids Planner: Kids Fairs, Collecting and Hunting Eggs

The weekends almost here and so is your Patch-approved fun guide

There's something to do inside for rainy Saturday, and something to do outside for  a sunny Sunday. Have fun with this weekend’s unique selections.


Where/When: Saturday, April 16 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the County Center.
Why Go: Spend a rainy day with all the cheeriness Westchester has to offer. Kids can play games, make a stand-up photo cut-out of themselves, listen to music, pet the adorable animals from Muscoot Farm, and take in a little children’s theater.
Pricing: $8 adults, $5 kids.


Where/When: Sunday, April 17 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Kensico Dam in Valhalla.
Why Go: Celebrate the buds of spring and preserve our Earth with a fun-filled day of live music, wacky science demonstrations for kids, food, gardening tips and great giveaways (who wouldn’t want an inflatable EarthBall globe?).
Pricing: Free.


Where/When: Sunday, April 17 at 11:30 a.m. at the Greenburgh Nature Center.
Why Go: Rain or shine, kids will have a blast hunting for eggs, petting animals, and high-fiving a life-size bunny!
Pricing: $8, members $4. Register and pre-pay by calling 914-723-3470. Day of event cost will be $10 and $6 members.


Where/When: Sunday, April 17 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the County Center.
Why Go: Well, if you’re considering this option, do I really need to tell you? More than 200 displays of reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates for view and for sale.
Pricing: $10 adults, $4 children 7-12. Under 7 free.


Where/When: Saturday, April 16 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at .
Why Go: Families can bond, enjoy laughs and a relaxing night out around the scrabble board.
Pricing: Entry free, plus cost of food and drinks.


Where/When: Saturday, April 16 at 2 p.m. at Stone Barns Center.
Why Go: Families can get up-close with the farm-to-table process: harvesting greens, collecting eggs, learning how mushrooms grow, and eating a delicious mushroom-themed snack.
Pricing: $20 adults, $15 kids. Space is limited, register here.


Where/When: Saturday, April 16 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at ArtsWestchester in White Plains.
Why Go: It’s never too early to teach them to save! Children are invited to decorate their own piggy bank and learn all about saving money.
