Influenced by Pilates and yoga, the Core Barre workout takes these disciplines to the next level by incorporating ballet. This fat-burning, muscle-sculpting workout aims to get you flatter abs, better posture, and a firmer bum. This routine is intended for people of all strength levels, and is gentle enough to be performed by pregnant and injured people. Added bonus: first class and a holistic health counseling session are free. Prices vary by session.

(901 Pelhamdale Ave, 914-738-7305)

A haven to help kids stay active and healthy, this gymnasium offers classes to those between the ages of 22 months and 18 years old. Classes include: flexibility, strength, endurance, gymnastics (tumbling, balance beams, and vaulting) and even cheerleading.  Classes are kept small (6:1 ratio) so each student gets specialized and individual attention from the instructor. The Parents & Tots program allows both to take part in movement exploration, games, and introductory gymnastics.  Registration is $35, 10-1 hour classes $250.

Healthy Fit (1000 East Boston Post Road, Mamaroneck, 914-670-0600)
