Police Protest Layoffs

The Pelham Board of Trustees has proposed cutting a police officer to save budget dollars, but the force says that this could jeopardize the Village’s safety. The Police Benevolent Association presents its case tonight at the Village Hall meeting at 7:30 p.m. Check back this afternoon for our first installment on this story and tomorrow morning for our recap on the meeting.

Hutchinson Teacher Gets Tenure

Fourth grade Hutchinson Elementary School teacher—Nicole Mitsopoulos—was approved for tenure at the Board of Education meeting on Monday night. Mitsopoulos started her career in the Pelham School district three years ago at Siwanoy where she spent two years teaching, before moving over to Hutchinson. “The tone of the classroom is always focused on learning,” remarked Principal Carla Tarazi. “We hope you have a long and happy career in Pelham.”
