Post-Holiday Shopping Deals, Colorful Emails and Beautifying Storefronts

This week is going to fly thanks to 5 Things (and that day off we had).

Beautify Pelville, Win Prizes

If you live or work in Pelville, here’s your chance to beautify your neighborhood and also win some pretty snazzy prizes. The first annual “Pelville in Bloom Contest,”(brought to you by the Pelville Association and New York State Senator Jeffrey D. Klein), kicks off today.

Here’s how the contest works: If you live or work Fifth Avenue (between Pelham Train Station and Chester Park) or on Lincoln Avenue (within the Pelville district), hang something floral (think: baskets, flower containers, plants or shrubs) in front of your house or office. To focus your arrangement, consider which category (Best Bloomin’ Container, Best Bloomin’ Hanging Basket, Best Bloomin’ Business, Best Bloomin’ Bar, Restaurant, Deli or Pizzeria, Best Bloomin’ Garden or Green Space), you’re aiming to win. Just don’t forget to submit your registration form to Pelham Realty (103 Fifth Ave.) by June 14.

Shop for Relay for Life

Relay for Life isn’t here just yet, but your chance to support the cause has already arrived. Shop at Five Below (located inside the Pelham Manor Shopping Center) through June 4 and 10 percent of every purchase will be donated to the event that raises money for the American Cancer Society.

Get More Deals

Just because the holiday’s over (sigh), doesn’t mean you can’t still find great shopping discounts. Check back at 10 a.m. when we post this week’s edition of Frugal Family, which is chock full of sport, beauty and restaurant sales.

Spice up Your Email Design

While we love emoticons, sometimes we crave a bit more color and texture to make our emails pop. So, when we found out about MeebleMail, a new Pelham-based business that does just that, we had to share the exciting news. Check out the site, and check back on Friday when we post our interview with founders, Sharon Gaffney and Shana Clarkehttps.
