VIDEO: News of New Pope Exciting for Pelham Catholics

At Our Lady of Perpetual Help, response was positive.

News that a new Catholic pope had been selected on only the second day of deliberations was exciting for staff at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Pelham Manor.

Church secretary Fabiola Briseno and accountant Bill Yaley waited together to see Pope Francis I emerge. Formerly Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio, the new pope is a Jesuit priest from Argentina.

Both Yaley and Briseno reacted positively when the new pontiff emerged and greeted Catholics around the world for the first time Wednesday afternoon.
