ViewFinder: Celebrating Father's Day in Pelham

Father's Day was a chance for Pelhamites to reflect and appreciate the dads in their lives

Many families retreated from Pelham's streets to celebrate dad in their backyards, country clubs, boats, or on an out-of-town trip. But, those who stuck around the local parks, eateries and pubs shared with Patch what this holiday means to them.

Alicia Brizzi and her husband, Mark, parents to two boys, were captured walking down Fifth Avenue. When asked what Father's Day meant to her, Alibia said it was, “Celebrating what an amazing father my husband is…He is an incredible and very thoughtful and generous husband.” As for Mark, his life changed the moment his children were born. “Getting married made me complete," but having children made him feel at "peace," he said.

Speaking of peace, peace of mind is what John Agyeman, a father of three, wants for his family. My camera crossed paths with him and his brood as he spent Father's Day at Julianne's Playground.

John was born in Ashanti, Ghana, West Africa and came to the United States, like many, to make a better life for himself. A Pelham resident, he works long hours at Coca-Cola to make sure he is able to support his family and to, one day, send his children to college.

Enjoy our slideshow and please feel free to upload any special moments you shared with dad on Sunday.
