"Convergency" Art Exhibit Focuses on Science and Technology Themes

A new exhibit is set to open at the Pelham Art Center in September.

"Convergency," a group exhibition of sculpture and installation by contemporary artists, focuses on narratives related to science and technology, according to a Pelham Arts Center press release.

The curator of the exhibit, Jeffrey Mongrain, is an internationally recognized artist who is also the Hunter College head of MFA Sculpture.

The exhibit will be on view from Sept. 13 through Oct. 26 after an opening reception Sept. 12 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Admission is free and the event is open to the public. There will also be a free, all-ages art workshop related to the exhibit at the reception, according to the release.

Nineteen artists contributed to the exhibit – Dylan Beck, Christie Brown, Chad Curtis, David East, Linda Ganstrom, Arthur Gonzalez, Nicholas Kripal, James Lawton, Steven Montgomery, Judy Moonelis, Sana Musasama, Matt Nolen, Denise Pelletier, Benji Schulman, Virginia Scotchie, Bobby Silverman, Neil Tetkowski, Adam Welch and Susan York.

The gallery conversation about "Convergency" will be Sept. 18 from 6 to 7 p.m. The event is free and all are invited to tour and discuss the exhibit, focusing on three or four sculptures, with the gallery and public program manger, according to the release.

On Oct. 19 as part of the Pelham Reads Frankenstein celebration, there will be a free public programming event that will include a panel discussion with the curator and artists from 1 to 3 p.m., held in conjunction with a Frankenstein-inspired kids workshop.

Pelham Reads Frankenstein will be a town-wide celebration involving literature, art and film in October and November that will relate to the "Convergency" exhibit, according to the release.
