The Pelham Art Center Presents: Havana Nights

Pelham, NY— International and local artists’ work, including an original silkscreen by Cuban artist Mauricio Trenard entitled El Gallo Rojo, will be among the featured live and silent auction items at “Havana Nights”, the Pelham Art Center’s 37th annual spring benefit. Other exciting auction items include an official limited edition NFL Super Bowl football signed by Giants quarterback Eli Manning. The event, which takes place March 31 at the nearby newly renovated Pelham Bay & Split Rock Golf Courses, will also feature live Cuban music, salsa dancers, cigar rolling in addition to Cuban-style appetizers, drinks (including the evening’s signature Mojitos) and a sit down dinner.

“Our Cuban theme promises to bring an exciting rhythm to our gala!” said Benefit Co-chair Lorraine Hale Doherty. “The committee has worked hard to ensure an evening replete with sensational auction items, striking dancing, exotic foods and lively surprises. Due to limited seating you should order your tickets immediately before they sell out!”

In addition to Trenard’s piece, the auction will also include a compelling abstract painting, Marina, by artist Dora Tomulic, whose work has been exhibited throughout her native Croatia as well as Sri Lanka, where she was instrumental in founding the Academy of Design.

Stand-out works from Westchester artists Anderson Kenny and Scott Seaboldt will also be auctioned. Bronxville resident Kenny is a well-known practicing architect in New York City with the firm Sawyer/Berson. A featured artist at the Sundance Institute, Kenny’s work is also seen in the collections of Vanderbilt University, Tigerman McCurry and the Tennessee State Museum. Artist Scott Seaboldt’s inviting ink drawing, Truro Coffee will also be auctioned. Seaboldt is an art educator at New Rochelle High School, a curator of the “Ides of March” exhibition at ABC No Rio, and has shown locally in many venues.
