Grab & Go Kids Planner: Egg Hunt, Pee-Wee and Holiday Week Activities

Activities for the younger set for this weekend and next week.

Why go: This free event, by the Scarsdale Recreation Department, will feature an egg hunt, a magic show and a chance to win prizes. Be sure to have your children's pictures taken with the Easter Bunny, so bring your camera. No registration is necessary.

2. Dibbles to Daisy Exhibit
Where/When: , 895 Shore Rd., Bronx, Saturday and Sunday, April 7 and 8, noon to 4 p.m.
Why go: The exhibit will feature antique garden tools collected by landscape architect Mark Morrison. These beautifully crafted and exceptionally useful objects provide a fascinating glimpse into the art of gardening as it has been practiced in Europe and America since the 17th century. Specialized tools such as clod crushers, cucumber straighteners, and wasp catchers are displayed alongside more familiar objects such as dibbles (for planting bulbs) and watering cans, each handmade in practical yet elegant forms that will appeal to all visitors, even those who have never weeded a garden with a daisy grubber.
Pricing: $5 for adults; $3 for seniors and students; free for children under 6.

Where/When: Cranberry Lake Preserve, 1609 Old Orchard St., West Harrison, Saturday, April 7, 1 p.m.
Why go: Staff at Cranberry Lake Preserve will show kids how to start seeds at home. Each child will get started with seeds, soil and a planter to transplant to their backyard.

4. Family Flicks: Pee-Wee's Big Adventure
Where/When: The Pelham Picture House, 175 Wolfs Ln., Pelham, Saturday, April 7 at 1:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 8 at 3:30 p.m.
Why go: This 1985 film by Tim Burton was his first directorial effort. Pee-wee embarks on a cross-country search for his missing bicycle, climaxing in a ride through the Warner Bros. back lot. The movie is recommended for ages 6 and up.
Pricing: General, $12; senior/students/child, $10; members, $6.

5. Children's Activities for Holiday Week
Where/When: , 1 Library Plz., New Rochelle, times vary, beginning Monday, April 9.
Why go: The week after Easter is filled with activities for kids at the New Rochelle Public Library. Events include a screening of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, crafts and live performances, one of which is a magic show. See the library's calendar (link above) for details, dates and times.
