Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum will present acoustic folk-pop duo Hannah & Maggie at "First Friday!" on Sep. 7, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Since the release of their first album, “Fine Being Here,” they’ve been favorably compared to Simon & Garfunkel, The Indigo Girls, and The Weepies. Their second album,  “Muscle & Bone,” has since been recorded and released to a growing, enthusiastic fan-base. The duo is currently celebrating the release of “Muscle & Bone” by driving an over-stuffed station wagon around America and playing music “whenever and wherever possible.”

“We are likely the only historic house museum on the Hannah & Maggie road trip,” mused Bartow-Pell Executive Director Ellen Bruzelius, “but being off the beaten path has never stopped interesting events and people from coming to our doors! Having Hannah & Maggie here for the opening of the Shade and Shadow exhibit of American and British silhouettes will make for a very special evening – a social currency of the past meets one from the present.”

The duo raised money for the production of their album on Kickstarter, the social funding platform. As an incentive for some investor levels, Hannah & Maggie pledged to tour the country, seek out their supporters between gigs, and play their supporters’ favorite track live. On September 7th at Bartow-Pell, the audience can experience the reward with only a modest investment: Tickets are $8; $5 for seniors and students; and free for members.

The Museum will be open from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Visitors may tour the mansion, stroll the garden, and enjoy refreshments. Light refreshments will be provided at no charge. Free transportation is provided by the Bronx Seaside Trolley, which makes a continuous loop from the Bx29 bus stop at Pelham Bay Park (last stop on the #6 train) to theBartow-Pell Mansion Museum and to City Island. The trolley runs from 5:25 to 10:30 p.m. The last pick up at Bartow-Pell is at 8:40 p.m.

Reservations are requested; call 718-885-1461 or email info@bpmm.org. For the Bronx Seaside Trolley schedule, visit www.bpmm.org. For more information about Hannah & Maggie, visit www.hannahandmaggie.com.
