More than 100 people attended the Pelham Art Center’s free public program "Diwali, Hindu Festival of Lights."

Diwali is a spiritual Hindu and Jainist celebration that is celebrated annually between mid-October and mid-December.

The event, organized by Lavanya Misra, featured theatrical performances from artists Prashant Shah and Prachi Dalai in the traditional Kathak dance, which originates from northern India. The artists also taught hand and foot movements to the audience.

Manju, a henna artist, created exquisite henna tattoos on many willing hands.  Both of the art center's studios were full of children and adults painting traditional clay pots, and creating rongoli designs.
