Poetry Caravan Leads to Pelham Art Center Sunday

Local poetry group will read poems inspired by the Pelham Art Center's "Light Matter" exhibit Sunday.

The Pelham Art Center  is hosting the “Poetry Caravan” as part of its Emerging Writers Series on Sunday, from 1 p.m. to -3 p.m.

The Poetry Caravan is a group of local poets, most of them published, that provides poetry readings and writing workshops to organizations throughout Westchester. The group also reaches out to  people who may not ordinarily have access like nursing homes, senior center, women’s shelters and health care facilities.

Group members Kate Gallagher, Ruth Handel, Marjorie Mir and Charlotte Walsh will read published works, or poems written in creative response to Pelham Art Center’s current exhibition, “Light Matter.”  Pei-Ling Lue, editor of OneStory literary magazine, will facilitate a question and answer period with the poets as they discuss their creative processes, getting published, etc.

The public is invited to attend the event, which is free,  and listen to the poets read from their original works.
