Bartow-Pell Kicks Off Holidays with A Storybook Christmas Luncheon

Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum kicks off its special events for the holiday season with a luncheon on Friday, December 2, 12:30-2:00 p.m. The glorious Greek Revival mansion will be fully decorated for the holidays with A Storybook Christmas theme, featuring eight Christmas trees inspired by children’s books from around the world in rooms throughout the house.

Real Simple, the award-winning Time Inc. Lifestyle Group magazine, is participating in the holiday event for the first time. Real Simple editors and renowned stylist Jeffrey Miller are using the popular children’s book, The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg (United States), as inspiration and will decorate their tree with beautifully designed cookie creations — polar bears, trains and snowflakes — by New Jersey cookie designer Sweet Dani B.

The remaining seven trees will be decorated by: The Pajama Program: ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas by Clement C. Moore (United States); the Pelham Public Library: Christmas in Noisy Village by Astrid Lindgren (Sweden); PACT (Parents and Community Together): The Legend of the Poinsettia by Tomie dePaola (Mexico); Ballet Arts of Westchester: Angelina’s Christmas by Katherine Holabird (England); Westchester Children’s Museum: Uncle Vova’s Tree by Patricia Polacco (Russia);

BPMM docents: The Tailor of Gloucester by Beatrix Potter (England); and Act One with Dana's Dramarama: Madeline’s Christmas by Ludwig Bemelmans (France).

Besides a delicious and festive meal, guests at the Holiday Luncheon can enjoy shopping for gifts, homemade goodies, and a variety of silent auction items. In addition, 20-25 year Bartow-Pell Conservancy members will be honored at the luncheon. Cost is $40 per person; $65 to be listed in the program.
