Junior League of Pelham's Annual Gala

The Junior League of Pelham invites all Pelhamites, Smurfs, Fraggles, piano tie fanatics, break-dancers and anyone who wears sunglasses at night to attend its 71st Anniversary Gala on March 10th at the Pelham Country Club.

This year’s Gala will go “Back to the 80’s” and feature the sweet stylings of rockin’ 80’s cover band, Rubix Kube!  As any 80’s fanatic worthy of a Flock of Seagulls haircut knows, Rubix Kube has a regular gig at the Canal Room in New York City and has been featured on Live with Regis & Kelly, as well as in numerous magazines and newspapers.

In addition to the amazing sounds of Rubix Kube, guests will be feted with auctions, cocktails and more succulent cuisine than you can moonwalk around!  So do the Smurf, the Popeye and the Jerry Lewis and bid on amazing items at the silent auction, including a four-day stay at one of Turks & Caicos’ most exclusive resorts, a weekend of skiing at Mount Snow or a sunny weekend in the Hamptons (or, in homage to 80’s excess, bid on them all!).  The silent action will also feature an enticing and unique opportunity to have one of Pelham’s leading oenophiles reorganize and offer guidance on how to upgrade your wine collection, a children’s birthday party package that could make you the hero of your block and alluring artwork created by gifted local artists!

Single tickets to the Back to the 80’s Gala are $175, couples tickets are $300 (so bring that special friend!) and benefactor tickets are $225.  Tickets may be purchased online at www.jlpelham.org.

While the Gala features great food, entertainment and fun, it is ultimately all for a good cause.  The funds raised by the Gala assist the Junior League of Pelham to carry out its mission to promote volunteerism, develop the potential of women and improve communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.

Through the years, the Junior League of Pelham has provided financial assistance to the Pelham Children’s Center, Pelham Family Services, the Pelham Art Center, and the Friends of the Town of Pelham Public Library. The Junior League of Pelham has initiated volunteer support and funding for startup programs, including Meals on Wheels in Pelham, funded Pride in Pelham for permanent town landscaping, and has also donated and obtained a matching grant from Westchester County for the purchase of enviro boxes for use in recycling by the Village of Pelham.

In addition, the Junior League of Pelham has spearheaded revitalization of Julianne’s Park and Weihman Park.  The Junior League of Pelham also coordinates the Wednesday morning library hour at the Pelham Public Library and funds from this year’s Gala will continue to support the Junior League’s endeavors toward the betterment of Pelham and surrounding communities.

So put on your favorite feather earring, dust off those vintage Air Jordans and unfurl those parachute pants (c’mon, you know you still have them!) and come join us on March 10th for a great night and a great cause!
