Malawi Fundraiser for Hope

Teens for Hope, a group of teen age students residing in Westchester is holding a fundraiser to benefit orphan students at the Home of Hope Orphanage in Malawi, Africa. The fundraiser will consist of a concert, dinner, fashion show, raffle, and video and guest speakers. The cost is $25 per adult and $10 students, children 5 and under are free. Childcare will be provided.

Teens for hope leader, Praise Mkandawire is a granddaughter of one of the founders for Home of Hope Orphanage, and a member of Hillside Church. Malawi is a third world country in the heart of central Africa that has been hit by an AIDS epidemic. Thousands of children have been left orphaned without food, shelter or hope of gaining an education. 15 students were sent to college with funds from a prevous fundraiser that took place at the same church, Hillside Alliance, Armonk,  in 2010. Teens for Hope is hoping to raise enough funds to continue sending these students to college so that they can finish their education. It costs $300 for each student for one semester. Their goal is to raise $15,000.00 or more to continue supporting these students.

Please come out for a night of family fun.  The fundraiser  will start with a small benefit concert.  Selected volunteer groups will entertain guests with musical acts, either singing or playing instruments.  Next, guests will move to another location in the building where a buffet style dinner will be provided while a slide show and guest speakers talk about the Home of Hope Orphanage.  The room will be decorated with African crafts and the pictures and stories of the orphans we are raising money for, and a raffle will be held.  After dinner, dessert will be served as the fashion show takes place.  The evening will conclude with a word from the Malawian ambassador to the United Nations.
