Pelham Children to Grace Cover of Kids' Yoga Book

The book on yoga for kids provides activities parents can use to help them achieve better attention and focus.

Nine children from Pelham were asked to do a photo shoot for a new about yoga for kids.

The book, which will be released in November is called Little Flower Yoga for Kids: A Yoga and Mindfulness Program to Help Your Child Improve Attention and Emotional Balance. It was written by Jennifer Cohen Harper and will be published by New Harbinger Publications.

Mayuri Gonzales, co-owner of Prasanthi Studio: A Family Yoga and Wellness Center, located at 136 Fifth Ave. in Pelham, said the children, some of whom will be on the cover, included Naiya Gonzalez, Pierce Gayle, Alyssa Domenici, Isabella Garcia, Leo Garcia, Annabelle Mount, Nathanial Mount, Benjamin Malejko and Mason Sznip.

She said all the children participate in children's yoga classes offered in their schools or at Prasanthi Studio.

"It's so special to me that our student get to be a part of this amazing book," Gonzales said. "I know each of them personally and they have gained so much from participating in the yoga program."

The book, she said, gives parents practical activities to use on a daily basis with their children drawing on connecting, breathing, moving, focusing and relaxing.
