[VIDEO] Pelham Ribbon Cutting at Lane Bryant

Customers lined up for opening of new store.

Customers were literally lined up outside the new Lane Bryant store in Post Road Plaza shopping center this Friday morning waiting for its grand opening.  Manager Anna Castellano said the new Pelham Parkway location has been eagerly anticipated because it is also convenient to the Bronx.

As soon as the pink ribbon was cut, a group of enthusiastic women made their way into the store to take advantage of the storewide promotion offered this weekend for the opening,  with some exceptions, all items in the store will be on 40 percent discount until Monday.

Women looked through racks of on-trend dresses, denim jeans and even lingerie targeted to women sizes 14-28. In one part of the store, a sales associate measured a customer for a new bra while another adjusted fall merchandise on the storefront mannequins.

A 2009 LA Times article reported that the average American woman is “162.9 pounds and wears a size 14” but Lane Bryant is one of only a few national retailers that have targeted the demographic for fashion-forward garments.

The Pelham Manor store has 15 part-time employees. Its hours are Monday- Saturday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
