Fifth grade bake sale offers great treats, raises funds for class activities

COLONIAL SCHOOL — In the front and back of the Colonial Elementary School, the fifth-grade class parents held a bake sale on Oct. 20 and 21. The event raised $753 for fifth grade activities.

The theme was Halloween. There were cookies, brownies, cupcakes and more. The tables were crowded with people, with lots of leftovers because people made so many treats.

“We would all like to thank you so much for making the fifth grade bake sale a success,” Mrs. Eileen Gregware, a fifth grade class parent and mother of Ryan (5G), Matthew (3D) and Samantha (KH), wrote to parents. “We had so many beautiful and creative desserts that people were raving about. So many of you made dessert that we had to extend the bake sale another day. We are planning to have a holiday bake sale sometime in December.”

The students were big fans of the items on sale:

• “I liked the brownies the best,” said Henry Driesen
• “I liked the brownies and the Rice Crispies treats,” said Rory Gerhardt.
• “My favorite was the puffy sugar cookies with yellow and purple icing,” said Daniella Cherner.
