Kindergartners meet their future teachers at Colonial screening

COLONIAL LIBRARY — Next year’s kindergartners entered the school building for screening on May 8. What did the kindergarten teachers think about their future students and how much will they miss their current ones?

“I always remember something special about every single student,” said Mrs. Jo Ann Hintzen, a Kindergarten teacher.

Kindergarten screening works like this: The kids get to meet all the teachers. They get to have a snack. And they play some games. They also answer some simple questions. Then the teachers sit down and decide which kids work well together.

“When I first meet the kids, I want every single one of them,” said Mrs. Hintzen. “Usually the kids I say I have to have are the troublemakers.”

Mrs. Tonya Wilson, the principal, said, “The kids are cute, tiny and excited to be in a new school.”

The only people in the room for the screenings are the teachers: Mrs. Hintze, Mrs. Kathleen McCarthy and Ms Sophia Shkreli

“I can picture them in my classroom,” said Ms Shkreli. “I also think about how I can benefit that child in education, in behavior and in popularity.”
