5 Things: DMW Celebrates 50th Anniversary, County Seeks Nominees for Senior Hall of Fame

Five things to know for Thursday, Aug. 11.

1. DMV Anniversary

The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles celebrated 50 years as a state agency this week. While it’s odd that anyone would equate the DMV with something celebratory, for the last 50 years the agency has been ensuring that vehicles on the state’s roadways are properly equipped and maintained. It celebrated the anniversary at the Empire State Plaza in Albany with a program and display of more than 25 vehicles from 1961 to the present.
