5 Things for the Week Ahead

These are 5 things to watch this week.

1) Schools are open Monday. After a week of storm-related closures, school districts in New Rochelle and Pelham reopen their doors Monday.

2) Tuesday, November 6. Election Day. Polls open at 6 a.m. and close at 9 p.m. County Executive Rob Astorino has made reconnecting power at polling places across Westchester County a top priority. If any polling places are necassry due to ongoing power outages following last week's storm, Astorino has said paratransit vehicles will be used to ensure voters are able to get to their polling place.

Patch will bring you the latest news on any changes that might occur with voting in our region. You can use this link to get the address of your regular Westchester County polling place. The New York State Board of Elections has also established a hotline to answer voter questions at 1-855-NYS-SANDY (1-855-697-7263).

3) Possible Nor'easter. Forecasters predict another storm could hit our region late Tuesday or Wednesday. Less powerful than Hurricane Sandy last week, the weather event cound bring heavy winds, rain and bring temperatures down into the 20s.

4) Volunteer. Help those hardest hit by Hurricane Sandy last week with donations and your time. Check Patch for ongoing opportunities to donate goods and pitch in your time.
