Here are 5 things to look for in the week ahead:

Burke Food and Coat Drive, Monday, Dec. 24, Burke Rehabilitation Center, 785 Mamaroneck Ave., White Plains, NY. Burke Rehabilitation Center has partnered with the Food Bank for Westchester and NY Cares to run a food and coat drive. Burke will be collecting non-perishable foods and coats until the end of the year for these two organizations that have the network to get the donations to those who need it most.

The Food Bank is in need of the following items:

  • Cans of tuna
  • Granola bars
  • Peanut butter in plastic containers
  • Shelf-stable milk
  • Cereal
  • Cheese and/or peanut butter sandwich crackers
  • Juice boxes
  • Crackers
  • Applesauce in plastic cups
  • Canned or dried fruit
  • Toilet paper
  • Hand sanitizer wipes
  • Tissues

Burke employees and members of the community can drop off their food and coat donations through the end of December at the lobby of the Wood Pavilion on the Burke Rehabilitation Center campus at 785 Mamaroneck Avenue in White Plains.

*Please make sure the food has not expired and are not in glass containers. Please no perishables.

Handel's "Messiah" by Candlelight on Christmas Eve, Monday, Dec. 24, 6 p.m. Bethesda Baptist Church, 71 Lincoln Ave., New Rochelle, NY. Christmas Eve performance of Handel's "Messiah" by candlelight in the festively decorated Bethesda Baptist Church of New Rochelle.  It will be sung by a choir composed of Bethesda Baptist Church of New Rochelle & guests from area churches under the direction of Ramon Reeberg of Convent Avenue Baptist Church, Harlem, NY. The host will be the esteemed senior pastor of Bethesda Baptist Church of New Rochelle, Rev. Dr. Allen P. Weaver, Jr.  There will be light refreshments after the concert. , Tuesday, Dec. 25, 11 a.m. Beth El Synagogue, 1324 North Ave., New Rochelle, NY. $40 What is a Jewish family to do on December 25th? Don't worry Beth El has it covered! Join us for Kosher Chinese food and a movie!

Family Holiday Program, Thursday, Dec. 27, 10 a.m. 897 S. Columbus Ave., Mount Vernon, NY. Historic games, activities, music and demonstrations, designed for children on vacation from school, as well as parents, adults, and others. Cal 914-667-4116.

School Break Workshops, Thursday, Dec. 27 and Friday, Dec. 28, Pelham Art Center, 155 Fifth Ave., Pelham, NY.
