Bus Driver Not Guilty in Deadly 2011 I-95 Crash

Bronx court clears driver of crash that killed 15 people.

Several news outlets are reporting that Ophadell Williams, 41, has been found not guilty of 53 of 54 felony charges stemming from a fatal bus crash on Interstate 95 in May 2011.

A jury in State Supreme Court in the Bronx found Williams, who was driving the bus at time of the crash, guilty of one misdemeanor charge: aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

Fifteen passengers were killed in the crash which took place near border of the Bronx and Westchester County.

Many of those on board the bus were seniors and immigrants with round-trip tickets to the Mohegan Sun casino/resort in Connecticut.

The crash has led to lawsuits by survivors and relatives of the dead passengers against World Wide Tours and Williams.
