Calm Before the Storm in Pelham Manor

Everything was quiet and under control Monday morning around Pelham Manor.

The doors were closed Monday morning at the Pelham Manor Dunkin Donuts on Boston Post Road. But in Pelham at Decicco's Market, shoppers were busy getting in their last minute shopping. For now, the market is open, but it may not re-open Tuesday.

The time to get butter, eggs, gasoline, crayons and batteries is now. Hurricane Sandy is on her way, already pushing up wind and water to announce her arrival.

Village Administrator John Pierpont ran down the preparations at Pelham Manor village hall: all police, fire and public works staff are in place. Inventories have been checked. Police have checked in with key locations like the New York Athletic Club and delivered flyers to residents in low-lying areas.
