1) Celebrate India’s Independence
The India Center of Westchester, located at 901 N Broadway in White Plains, is hosting a celebration today in commemoration of India's 64th Independence Day. The event, which is free and open to the public, begins at 6:30 p.m.
2) Jazz at Lola’s Tea House
Vibraphonist Eric Katz, bassist Lester Harper and vocalist Katie Koster will perform a collection of jazz tunes at . There is a $5 cover for the event. Call 914-738-2100 to reserve a seat.
3) Miguel performs at Playland
Miguel, a Grammy-nominated R&B singer, is scheduled to . His hits include “All I Want is You,” “Sure Thing,” and “Quickie” from his 2010 album, “All I Want is You.” Raquel Castro, an actress and former contestant of “The Voice” television show, is also expected to make an appearance. 4) Celebrate Aviation Day
Today is Aviation Day, which marks the birthday of Orville Wright. Orville Wright and his brother, Wilbur Wright, are credited with creating the first successful airplane after their history-making flight on Dec. 17, 1903. Orville Wright was born on Aug. 19, 1871.
5) Fun with Franklin
Once again, Franklin will be on hand . Franklin, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, will be available from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. to be read too or simply keep patrons company. Call 914-630-4581 for more information.
