Join the YWCA in White Plains  take a Stand Against Racism. The events will feature Iyaba Ibo Mandingo – poet, painter, writer, and playwright – on April 26, 2012 at Greenburgh Nature Center and on April 27, 2012 at the Jay Heritage Center. Stand Against Racism will take place on both dates from 3pm-5pm.

Why go:
The historic Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum needs volunteers for its cleanup day on on Saturday, April 28. The event is sponsored by Consolidated Edison, which will supply light refreshments and supplies. Volunteers should wear sturdy shoes or boots and long sleeves and pants and bring work gloves if they have them. The work is needed in order to prepare the site for its Beauty in the Bronx Open House Weekend on May 4–6. The open house is being held in celebration of National Preservation Month. From Opera to Broadway is a concert that benefits two of New Rochelle's food banks:The Brown Bag Lunch Program of Trinity St. Paul's Church and Manna Ministry Love/Feast of Union Baptist Church. At intermission honorary awards will be given to Deacon Hyacinth, founder of Brown Bag Lunch, and Vivian Evans for the more than 20 years of support they have given.
