Grab & Go Kids Planner: Fun Fridays, Earth Walk and Strawberries

Activities for the younger set for the upcoming weekend.

1. Fun Fridays at the Pelham Library
Where/When: , 530 Colonial Ave., Pelham, Friday, May 4 at 7 p.m.
Why go: Parents are invited to drop their grade one through five kids at the library for two hours of reading, games, tutoring and movie-watching. High school volunteers, adult supervisors and library staff will be on hand. Call the Pelham Library to sign up/ get more information.
Pricing: Free.  

2. Songcatchers and Senior Present "Love Makes the World Go Round"
Where/When: , 1 Library Plaza, New Rochelle, Saturday, May 5 at 3 p.m.
Why go: Enjoy an inter-generational concert joining singers from the Hugh A. Doyle Senior Center and Songcatchers. The concert will feature songs of love, joy, happiness and peace. This event was made possible by the New Rochelle BID, ArtsWestchester, and Communities for All Ages Foundation.
Pricing: Free.  

3. Third Annual Earth Citizen Walk and Family Picnic
Where/When: Rockland Lake State Park, 299 Rockland Lake Rd., Valley Cottage, Sunday, May 6 at 10 a.m.
Why go: Celebrate the Earth and each other at the third annual Earth Citizen Walk and Family Picnic, held at Rockland Lake State Park. Registration for the walk is from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., the walk starts at 10 a.m. Take a 1-mile walk—rain or shine, strollers are welcome—or stay for the 3-mile walk. The event includes free children’s face painting, tai chi, drumming demonstrations and raffles. Stay for lunch after the walk, vegetarian lunch boxes will be provided by Eastern Kitchen for $5. There is an $8 per car parking fee (park in field No. 1).
Pricing: $20, pre-registration; $25, on-site registration.

4. CNR's Annual Strawberry Festival
Where/When: , 29 Castle Pl., New Rochelle, Sunday, May 6 at noon.
Why go: The College of New Rochelle will host a fun-filled day of outdoor activities, music, entertainment and strawberry treats. Admission is free; there is a charge for food, games and rides. The rain location is The Wellness Center. There is a charge for food.
Pricing: Free. 

5. Glowtown Art Workshop
Where/When: , 155 Fifth Ave., Pelham, Sunday, May 6 at 1:30 p.m.
Why go: Pelham Art Center presents Glowtown to the Westchester community, in conjunction with the exhibition, Light Matter. Glowtown is an art-making workshop that develops individual creativity and teamwork within a community-building environment. By using everyday, simple, cast-away materials, along with the magic of glow-in-the-dark paint, participants come together to invent a fantastical world that never existed before, both during the day and at night! For ages 6 and up.
