Grab & Go Kids Planner: Kid's Rock Concert, Nature Tour and Floatable Art

Events and activities to keep your little ones amused over the upcoming weekend.

1. 
Where/When: Wave Hill, W. 249th St. & Independence Ave., Bronx, Saturday, Sept. 10, 10 a.m.–1 p.m.
Why Go: At this week's Free Family Art Project, guest artist Randy Brozen will guide participants in creating their own paper circles to "reflect the changing seasons and cycles of life."
Pricing: Admission to the grounds is free on Saturdays until noon.

2. 
Where/When: , 1324 North Ave., New Rochelle, Sunday, Sept. 11, 10:45 a.m.
Why Go: Beth El’s J-Life (Jewish Living and Family Engagement) presents award winning kids' rock band The Mama Doni Band. A food concession will be open following the concert, with a chance to buy Mama Doni CDs and have them autographed. Suggested for families with children 12 and under.
Pricing: In advance (by Sept. 7) Adults, $18; children ages 2-12, $10; under 2 years old, free. At the door, tickets will be $25 for adults, $18 for children. Click here to purchase tickets.

Where/When:
 Crestwood Metro-North Railroad Station, 1 Columbus Ave., Tuckahoe, Sunday, Sept. 11, 12-4 p.m.
Why Go: Naturalist "Wildman" Steve Brill will lead a four-hour walking tour along the Bronx River. Steve Brill's nature walks provide an opportunity to learn about seasonal edible and medicinal wild plants, mushrooms and ecology. Recommended for children ages 6-12 (but all ages are welcome). Participants will meet up by the street side of the Crestwood Metro-North railroad station. Click here to learn more about "Wildman" Steve Brill and his nature walks.
Pricing: Suggested donation, $20 ($10 for children under 12), sliding scale. No one is ever turned away for lack of funds.

Where/When:
 The Science Barge, 99 Dock St., Yonkers, Sunday, Sept. 11, 2-4 p.m.
Why Go: During this week's workshop, kids will craft their own floatable works of art to be placed in a semi-sheltered area of the river next to the Science Barge. Suggested for children ages 4-10. Please RSVP to jamiekorb@gmail.com.
Pricing: $5 (supply fee).

5. 
Where/When:
 , 99 Dromore Rd., Scarsdale, Sunday, Sept. 11, 2:30 p.m.
Why Go: Walk among free flying butterflies in Greenburgh Nature Center's indoor Butterfly Exhibit. Nature Center naturalists will be there to answer questions about the stunning critters they refer to as "flying flowers."
Pricing: Free with museum admission.
