Yonkers Riverfront Library, 1 Larkin Ctr, Yonkers,, through Oct. 31, Monday-Thursday 9 a.m.-8 p.m., Fridays 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Sat 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
Why Go:
This year marks 2012 marks the bicentennial year of the birth of Charles Dickens with year long, global celebrations to honor his work and life. Illustrations of the author’s literary works by The Children’s Book Illustrator Group will be exhibited in the Art Gallery at the Yonkers Riverfront Library.

, 1997 Palmer Ave, Larchmont, Wednesday, Aug. 29 at 2 p.m.
Why go:
The Voracious Reader hosts Toddler Story Time on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. and Wednesday at 2 p.m. Stories, coloring and fun around a theme, from puppies to weather to barnyard friends. For ages 18 months to three years.
Pricing:
Free.

Where/When:
Philipsburg Manor & Kykuit Visitor Center, 381 N Broadway, Sleepy Hollow, Sept. 1-3, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Why go:The Green Corn Festival explores the history and culture of the area’s Native American residents. Enjoy folk tales, song, and storytelling, and a participatory presentation of traditional Native American dance, plus open-hearth cooking demonstrations, games, live music, and hands-on craft activities for children. Pricing:
General Admission is $14; $12 for seniors; and $8 for children 3-17. Free for members and children under 3.

, 3 Oak St, Brewster, Sept. 1 at 4 p.m.
Why Go:
Food Vendors will be on Oak Street selling dinner items until 7pm.  Music, Artisans and Entertainment for children on the lawn of the historic Walter Brewster House. Tours of the Walter Brewster House will be available throughout the day. Short films will be shown under the stars on the sweeping lawn of the Walter Brewster House. Bring blankets or lawn chairs for this free event.

99 Dock St., Yonkers, Sunday, Sept. 2 from 2 p.m to 4 p.m.
Why go:
Every Sunday, through October, the Science Barge on Yonkers' waterfront invites children ages 4 to 10 for hands-on Art & Science workshops. The workshop scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 2, is “Language of Liquids.” Children will have the opportunity to learn about liquids, making things float and buoyancy.
