Pelham Village Experiences Violent Crime Increase in 2010

The Pelham Village police department reported 20 violent crimes in 2010, according to the FBI's annual crime report.

There were 20 violent crimes reported in the Village of Pelham in 2010, which represent a 40 percent increase from 2009, according to information released by the FBI earlier this month.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation's uniform crime report, which is released annually, relies on information submitted by nearly 17,000 law enforcement agencies across the country.

Although violent crime in the village increased, property crimes remained relatively flat. Burglaries decreased from 22 in 2009 to 15 in 2010; while arcenies decreased from 116 in 2009 to 76 in 2010. There were seven car thefts in 2010, which is five more than the amount reported in 2009.
