Tango Lesson, Jazz and Ladies Night

Why go:
The Pantonic Steel Band Orchestra ,  a 16-piece orchestra and a five-time champion of the prestigious Panorama competition, will give the final performance of The New Rochelle Downtown Business Improvement District’s Music on the Green series. The Pantonic Steel Band Orchestra will perform an astounding array of musical selections—from Caribbean to jazz, R&B, popular and rap on steel drums. The performance will be held on Library Green, but in case of rain it will be moved into the Ossie Davis Theater of the New Rochelle Public Library. Seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

Why Go:
Burger Bar 57 is hosting its “Ladies Night with DJ Mike Riley” from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. There will be aadies signature cocktail list as well as half priced beer, wine and well drinks until 10 p.m.

3. Bobby Sanabria to Perform at Bartow-Pell First Friday!

Why go:
Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum will present Latin jazz great Bobby Sanabria and his band for its First Friday! on August 3, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A Bronx native and multiple Grammy nominee, Sanabria is a drummer, percussionist, composer, arranger, conductor, and bandleader who has performed with Dizzy Gillespie, Tito Puente, Paquito D’Rivera, Afro-Cuban jazz godfather Mario Bauzá and other jazz legends. Sanabria, the band’s musical director and drummer, will be joined by Jeff Lederer on tenor and soprano saxophones, and flute; Enrique Haneine on piano; and Carlo DeRosa on acoustic bass.
Pricing:
$8 general admission; $5 for seniors and students; and free for members.

Why go:
Jazz singer Antoinette Montague will perform at the Yonkers Amphitheatre. She has performed at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola, Kitano Jazz, Jazzmobile’s Summer Breeze Concert Series and as curator and Mistress of Ceremonies for the tribute to Dr. Billy Taylor.

Latin Dance Xtreme, 109 Lake Avenue, Tuckahoe, Saturday, Aug. 4. Beginner classes start  noon, intermediate/advanced classes begin at 1:30 p.m..
Why go:
For beginners or people trying to master advanced tango techniques. No partner required. Beginner classes are from noon to 1:30 p.m. Intermediate and advanced classes are from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Advanced registration required. Register by calling 914-715-3388 or by going here.
