Westchester Fire Academy Graduated 16 During Today's Ceremony

Sixteen fire recruits from Westchester and beyond graduated today from the Westchester County Career Chiefs Fire Academy.

    The new firefighters were awarded their certificates during a graduation ceremony held at the Robert Schnibbe Jr. Support Services Building at the Department of Emergency Services. County Executive Robert P. Astorino and Commissioner John M. Cullen of the Department of Emergency Services addressed the graduates.

    “For the past 16 weeks, these young men have faced a broad range of physical and academic challenges during their rigorous training. They were put to the test each and every day. Their presence at graduation is a testament to their hard work and commitment,” Astorino said.

    The county executive thanked DES staff and the instructors from numerous fire departments who trained the new firefighters during the 17-week Fire Academy program.

  “Our county and its fire departments share a common commitment to provide the best training possible for members of the fire service,” Astorino said. “These new firefighters have indeed received the finest training there is from instructors of extraordinary talent, skill and experience.”

    The graduates and their departments are: Jordan Bogart, William Jones and Daniel Rosenberger, Larchmont Fire Department; Jason Abrahamsen, Brian Becker and Michael Decker, Scarsdale Fire Department; Matthew Lowrey and Harry Stone III, Fairview Fire Department; Cole Martin and Anthony Scopelliti, White Plains Fire Department; Ralph Magliulo, Pelham Fire Department; Craig Becker and Dominic Cicalese, Middletown Fire Department; Kenneth Deichler, Poughkeepsie Fire Department; and Michael Seemann and Christopher Koehle, Long Beach Fire Department.
