“Oh, So You Wanna Hear?” a staged reading by professional actors, is comprised of dramatic monologues taken from the testimony of formerly incarcerated women and one man. These individuals were interviewed by Sarah Lawrence students at Hour Children, a Queens-based organization that attempts to provide support for women who have been through the prison system as well as for their children. The women and man whose stories are being performed will be in attendance and will participate in an open discussion following the performance. The actors participating in the event are Richard Scheinmel, playwright and performer; Joyce Griffen, actress, singer, dancer, writer and director; Betty LaRoe, theatrical actress, writer, director and producer; Shaun B. Wilson, professional film and theatrical actress and Tanya Perez, professional actress. Refreshments will be served.
This event takes placei in the Film Viewing Room in the Performing Arts Center at Sarah Lawrence College.
