Edward Ball, Yale professor and author of The Inventor and The Tycoon: A Gilded Age of Murder and the Birth of Moving Pictures, takes us back 130 years to the intriguing story of Eadweard Muybridge who invented stop-motion photography, making motion pictures possible. But he was also a murderer who killed coolly and meticulously, and his trial was a media sensation. His patron was railroad tycoon (and former California governor) Leland Stanford.
