Big Bat Bopper Baseball Tournament Hosted by Friends of Aaron Rossman

On Sunday June 12, friends of Aaron Rossman will host a Big Bat Bopper Baseball Tournament at Pelham Memorial High School in memory of his passing from Cystic Fibrosis this past November.
Big Bat Bopper Baseball is a favorite Physical Education sport of many recent graduates and students alike. Players use a Cricket bat to hit a bouncing rubber ball and circle four bases positioned in the corners of the gymnasium twice before touching the pitcher’s mound to score a run. Teams consist of 12-16 players and games last 12-15 minutes. (Further rules explained online)

“Whether spectating or participating, Aaron loved Big Bat. I couldn't think of a better way of paying homage to our best friend than setting up this tournament in his memory. I'll tell you one thing though, we'll be playing for Aaron, but no one on my team, nor any other, will be able to replicate that sweet lefty stroke of his,” says, E.J. Rivera, PMHS 2006 and the man behind the idea.

The event is open to the public, and we highly encourage residents of all ages to participate and spend the day with members of our community. For those who wish to spectate, there will be various activities including auctions and raffles throughout the day. Check-in for the event will begin at 10 AM on Sunday, June 12th, and the tournament will begin promptly at 11 AM. All teams must Pre-Register with the Big Bat Bopper Baseball Committee by E-mailing MichaelRecca@gmail.com with a team name and roster. Admission for athletes and the general public is $15.
