VIDEO: Local Greenhouse Brings Back Pelham Flowers

Local gardening mainstay is back with your spring gardening needs.

Lieb's Greenhouses is days away from ending its winter hiatus. Owner Leonard Pouder and his staff are busy restocking the greenhouses with plants and the shelves with supplies for the March 18 re-opening next Monday.

Poulder says pansies will be among the first plantings available for the season as well as plenty of supplies for readying your yard for vegetable planting and landscaping.

Lieb's Greenhouses, on Aksins Place off Eastchester Rd., has a history as old as New Rochelle itself. First farmed by the French Huguenots, the land subdivided and eventually became Lieb's Greenhouse in 1923. Owner Leonard Pouder has run the organic greenhouses and landscape business since his father took over the business in the 1950s.
