Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum Needs Volunteers for Spring Clean Up

The historic mansion needs volunteers for clean-up days scheduled this month and in April.

 

The historic needs volunteers for two clean-up days that are being sponsored by Consolidated Edison.

The first clean-up will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on  Saturday, March 17 and the second event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 28.

Consolidated Edison will supply light refreshments and supplies. Volunteers should wear sturdy shoes or boots and long sleeves and pants and bring work gloves if they have them.

Volunteers will focus on cleaning, clearing, and beautifying the museum’s extensive gardens and grounds.  The gardens will be center stage for Bartow-Pell’s Beauty in the Bronx Open House Weekend on May 4–6 in celebration of National Preservation Month.

A National Historic Landmark and part of New York City’s largest park, Bartow-Pell is the last of the 19th-century country estates once found throughout the Pelham Bay area.
