CLASSROOM 3R — Peter Balogh is Eva’s dad. Eva is in 3R. Mr. Balogh was written about on the other side of the country! A fan in Los Angeles made a blog about him last month—that’s pretty amazing.

Mr. Balogh is a really good lunch-bag artist, and he is really good at coming up with jokes from his childhood. He had always put doodles on Eva’s lunch bags, and he only recently put jokes on them. Here’s how it happened: He started putting doodles on Eva’s lunch and snack bags and the doodles just got weirder.

“I have to remind myself sometimes that these have to be appropriate for a classroom of third graders,” Mr. Balogh said. He plans to do the same for Alexander, Eva’s little brother.

Mr. Balogh was inspired by two comics that he loved to read when he was younger. One of them was Mad Magazine, and the other was “The Far Side.” Mad was made by loads and loads of people, but Mr. Balogh had one favorite author named Al Jaffee. The author of “The Far Side” is Gary Larson. Peter also really liked “Spy vs. Spy” like I do.
