Bronx Man Indicted for 2009 Home Invasion in Greenburgh

A Bronx man is scheduled to appear in Westchester County Court later this month after an indictment was unsealed Wednesday charging him with robbery and burglary in connection to a home invasion robbery in Greenburgh.

Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore announced that a four count indictment was unsealed today against Victor Hernandez, 26, of the Bronx charging him with a count first-degree robbery; a count of second-degree robbery;a count of first-degree burglary; and a count of second-degree burglary.

On December 20, 2009, Hernandez allegedly forced his way into a house in Greenburgh with unidentified suspects. Hernandez, who was armed with knife, and his accomplices then proceeded to tie up the husband and wife living in the home and steal a number of items, including a laptop computer.

After an extensive investigation involving the Greenburgh Police Department and the District Attorney’s Office, the stolen laptop was located in the Bronx by a laptop remote log-in feature and the defendant was identified.

Greenburgh police went to the location and learned that Hernandez was in jail in Michigan on unrelated charges. A warrant for his arrest was issued on January 23, 2012.

Hernandez waived his extradition hearing and was sent back to New York where he was arraigned Wednesday after the indictment was unsealed.  Hernandez sent back  was sent to Westchester County Jail and his next court appearance will be on May 29, 2012.

Hernandez faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in state prison on the top counts of the indictment.

Assistant District Attorney Livia Rodriguez of the Investigations Division is prosecuting the case.
