A Brooklyn man was sentenced to five concurrent prison terms after he pleaded guilty for multiple counts of murder attempted, attempted murder, robbery and burglary for his role in the 2010 deaths of two Yonkers men.
Daniel Sanchez, 25, of Brooklyn was sentenced to five concurrent life sentences and an additional 115 years in prison after pleading guilty to five counts of first-degree murder, four counts of second-degree attempted murder, four counts of first-degree assault, one count of first-degree burglary and five counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Sanchez, along with Brian Roach, 23, of Yonkers; and Ronell Jones, 23, address unknown; entered an apartment at Cromwell Towers, located at 77 Locust Hill Avenue in Yonkers, at about 1 a.m. on July 6, 2010. All three men were armed with handguns, with the intent of robbing the residents of the apartment.
There were nine tenants inside the apartment at the time the crime was being committed.
During the robbery, the defendants threatened to kill all of the occupants, including two children, ages 5 and 8.
The robbers shot and killed Kasheem Little, 21, and Carlton McLeod, 23, during the robbery and injured four others, including one of the children who suffered life-threatening injuries, with gunshots.
Assistant District Attorneys Michelle Lopez and John O’Rourke of the Superior Court Trial Division prosecuted the case.
Roach was given a sentence of 32 years to life earlier this month after he pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree murder, one count of second-degree murder and one count of second-degree attempted murder.
Jones is still on the loose and has warrant out for his arrest on the charges of first-degree murder, second-degree murder and second-degree attempted murder.
Assistant district attorneys Michelle Lopez and John O’Rourke, of the Superior Court Trial Division, prosecuted Sanchez’s case.
